On Guard! This is one of several hummingbird paintings I've done over the years. These birds are a very popular subject, so much so that I have met collectors who buy only hummer paintings. My wife wanted to name this one "Shall we dance?", but I finally settled with the title "On Guard!" Probably a gender thing. But you can call it either one, okay?

Hummer This painting was a lot of fun, because I wanted to get some motion into the bird while keeping the flower stationary. So I "fuzzed" the edges and kind of layered the paint to try to get that fast hummer movement that is so fascinating to us all! How'd I do? Maybe you'll let me know....
